Onboarding Journey

Welcome!

We look forward to welcoming you soon! In addition to the exchange with your direct superior and the responsible decentralized HR employee, this page should help you to find your way around quickly.

You now have access to the university systems:

Two weeks before you join, you will receive the master data sheets by post, provided you are resident in the EU at that time. From this point on, you will have access to the intranet and your Unibas e-mail address, among other things. You must log in to the University of Basel's Viaweb and change your password within seven days of receiving the master data sheets.

Please remember to take the key data sheet with you on your first day of work.

You're in!

At the beginning, it's all about getting to know your team and your colleagues better and familiarizing yourself with your workplace and the systems. You will also receive important items such as your UNIcard or your key on your first day.

First of all, orientation:

In the course of your induction, we attach great importance to ensuring that you can identify with both the university and your team. This includes getting to know the activities and processes as well as getting to know your team in depth in order to quickly gain familiarity.

Now it's all about integration & learning:

In the integration and learning phase, we aim for you to develop an overall picture of your role and the university, while also fostering your independence. You will learn to understand connections and become more productive. Through regular feedback, we help you to continuously improve.

The end of the onboarding phase is the probationary period interview:

Onboarding is concluded with a probationary period interview in which the current situation is assessed. Your progress and feedback from the last three months will be discussed. If any areas for improvement are identified, further measures are taken to address them and ensure that you have integrated as well as possible.
